On Thursday 23 January Michelmores hosted its annual Litigation Conference. This was a fantastic ‘away day’ and opportunity to meet litigators across the Exeter, London and Bristol offices. Various informative as well as light-hearted sessions were held, designed to generate dialogue and ideas, embodying the Firm’s ethos of collaboration.
Underpinning the Conference was the theme of Service Excellence. Internally, a culture of employee engagement, flexible working and working in a way promulgated by the Mindful Business Charter combine to make a dynamic and resilient Firm. Externally the Firm is constantly reinforcing its dedication to client standards.
For instance, one item on the agenda was project management. Being in my first seat, I have been guided by my supervisor whilst being gradually given responsibility for matters from their inception, from file opening to drafting. The topic was therefore wholly useful, as I learnt about the various processes in place as well as new initiatives to conduct client matters from the outset as if they were projects.
This approach involves teams co-ordinating responsibilities and collaborating effectively, alongside ongoing high-level oversight. Progressing cases in this way ensures procedures and outcomes are streamlined and effective. The result is consistent Service Excellence both internally and for our clients.
Whilst for those who were in attendance, a missing shoe was an unexpected addition to the agenda, the day was appreciated by all. I certainly look forward to the next year’s Conference.
