Non-doms in the UK should be reviewing their arrangements and structures

Dhana Sabanathan, a Partner in Michelmores’ Tax, Trusts and Succession team in London, and part of the Firm’s Private Wealth team, has provided specialist insight for the Financial Times in her article entitled ‘Non-doms in the UK should be reviewing their arrangements and structures.’

In the article, Dhana questions the UK Government’s reliance on the Warwick report and joint research with LSE for projecting revenue from abolishing non-dom status. She argues that the wealthiest non doms are job creators, significant taxpayers and big spenders – with many jurisdictions (including within the EU) bending over backwards to welcome them.

She goes on to say that, in light of the election and non-dom proposals, current non-doms in the UK should be reviewing their arrangements and structures, and making use of the existing rules while they are still available.

Dhana joined Michelmores in 2023 from Winckworth Sherwood, where she was a Partner in the Private Business and Wealth team for over five years. Her experience is in the private client and wealth management sector, where she specialises in working with high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices, entrepreneurs, corporates and owner-managed businesses.

She regularly writes articles on tax and trust updates. Read more from her most recent FT Adviser article here, Non-doms in the UK should be reviewing their arrangements and structures – FTAdviser
