Solicitor – Admitted 2020
“Matthew is a great solicitor and I very much valued his straightforward and pragmatic advice; his patient approach and ability to explain things really clearly was much appreciated.”
Overview
I am an Associate working within the Employment team.
I provide contentious and non-contentious advice to a range of our clients. Whilst qualifying through the CILEx route, I gained extensive experience in litigation and the Tribunal process, including on several complex matters such as discrimination (based upon various protected characteristics including race, sex and disability), whistleblowing and employment status.
I have extensive experience in negotiating settlements, including exit packages for high level employees, and the Tribunal litigation process. I also have experience in drafting employment contracts and workplace policies and am able to provide practical advice to ensure the smooth implementation of such policies in the workplace, alongside providing Employment law support on commercial transactions.
During my career here at Michelmores, I have provided complex advice to a variety of our clients on a wide range of non-litigious matters including the harmonisation of contractual terms, union-related activities including the recognition of trade unions, and the requirements of a valid balloting process relating to strike action.
I am an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association and took part in the ELA Response to Low Pay Commission: Consultation in April 2021 – National Minimum Wage Rates, and recently volunteered to be an advisor under the ELIPS online clinic.
