I am a chartered tax adviser in the Tax, Trusts and Succession team and provide an exceptional level of tax compliance and tax advisory services to our clients. I oversee a portfolio of personal and trust tax returns for a variety of clients ranging from high-net-worth individuals who are both domiciled and non-domiciled, to landlords and sole traders. I assist the Probate team with tax affairs for deceased individuals and for the estate during the period of administration.

On the trust side, in addition to overseeing annual self-assessment tax returns, I am involved in calculating inheritance tax 10-year charges, exit charges and dealing with the requirements for the Trust Registration Service.

I have a particular interest in advising clients with foreign elements and am experienced with the statutory residence test rules, domicile, remittance basis planning, residency, and double taxation issues with other countries. Another advisory area I specialise in is capital gains tax in relation to property transactions; I also undertake the compliance aspect with regards to the 60-day reporting on property sales imposed by HMRC.

Having initially completed my tax technician training with a big four accountancy firm, I have also worked at one of Devon’s leading independent chartered accountants before coming to Michelmores in 2016. I enjoy working collegiately with the lawyers in the team to provide a holistic approach to private client advice.
