I’m an Associate in Michelmores’ award-winning Projects team. I advise a wide range of clients on a spectrum of issues affecting critical infrastructure.
My clients own, operate, finance and/or utilise a diverse array of infrastructure assets, although a focus of my practice area is on social infrastructure assets. I undertake work advising the public and private sectors on their commercial and financing obligations under their respective contracts. Additionally, I support clients on their purchase of operational infrastructure assets by advising them on the seller’s rights and obligations under the underlying contracts.
I really enjoy advising clients in the infrastructure industry due to the complex nature of the assets and the unique context in which the assets are found. I particularly enjoy understanding the technical practicalities and establishing how they fit with the related legal agreements.
To better understand my practice area I successfully undertook the Foundation level of APMG’s Public-Private Partnership Certification (an innovation from the World Bank Group, the EBRD, the ADB, the MIF, the IDB, and the IsDB).
Developing a profile within industry, I’m a UK Committee Member of the Future Leaders Network of the International Project Finance Association a global professional association for the infrastructure and energy financing industry.
I’ve been part of the team at Michelmores since 2016, having previously trained and worked at an international firm in their London and Hong Kong offices.
Negotiating variations to PFI agreements to enable additional works and/or alterations to the provision of services
Advising the Office of a Police and Crime Commissioner on the early termination of their PFI. This was a particularly unusual PFI due its primary purpose being to enable PPP service contract rather than the provision of a building
Supporting a University on its distressed PFI project and advising it on the handback of the asset on expiry of the project agreement
Advising a development finance institution as lender on the prepayment of a project financing for an innovative power plant. I have supported this client on all aspects of this loan from the drafting of the initial documents to rescheduling the debt and waiving defaults to its eventual prepayment
Advising project sponsors on their finance obligations to lenders and associated reporting requirements to their public sector counterparts
