I am a Partner in the Construction and Engineering team based in Exeter. I joined in May 2024. I was Articled at Macfarlanes and joined Wragge&Co (now GowlingWLG) on qualification in 1986.
I am experienced in all forms of dispute resolution on all types of construction and engineering contracts.
I have been an Adjudicator on TeCSA’s panel for over 20 years and regularly act as an Adjudicator which helps my clients when presenting their cases.
I have represented parties in some of the leading cases in construction law I acted for the successful claimant in Harmon CFEM v House of Commons (the leading procurement case), for Morrison Construction in the first Adjudication enforcement case (Macob), for the JV of contractors building the M6 Toll Road in a series of Adjudications, three TCC cases and one Court of Appeal (a leading case on Equivalent Project Relief in a PFI contract), Hyder on adjudication enforcement versus Carillion (leading authority on what constitutes a decision) and Interserve v Safeway (no greater liability in collateral warranties).
Other notable projects I have acted on include New Sadlers Wells Theatre, Spinnaker Tower, and the Olympic Stadium in London.
I have been ranked in Band 1 for Construction in the Midlands in Chambers for over 20 years and am in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame for the West Midlands. Chambers quotes include ” intellectually second to none” and “he demonstrates strong experience and a great client manner”.
I have also been listed as a leading practitioner in the Who’s Who Legal: Construction 2024 report, which provides in-depth analysis to the world’s elite construction lawyers and experts.

Acting for a county council in a dispute relating to a Waste to Energy plant which involved a stay of Court proceedings to Arbitration and an Arbitration concerning whether Take Over was properly certified
Acting for the owners of a shopping centre in a long running dispute with its contractor and settlement in respect of the remedying of defects in a car park and the attendant claims from Tenants
Acting for a cable company installing fibre optic cables for a telecoms company in two ” smash and grab adjudications and a true value adjudication involving claims of several millions
Acting for a Pension Fund owner of hotel and residential accommodation in Euston in a TCC case against a contractor and Architect in respect of defects in the cladding following Grenfell
Acting for a developer of an Amazon warehouse in respect of claims relating to delays to completion and compliance with Fire Officer requirements
