Overview
I am a Partner and Barrister, with broad legal and practical experience, and a focus on delivering bespoke advice, strategic direction, and novel drafting, in cases and deals which involve complex interrelationships between diverse areas of law.
I really like challenging legal puzzles which involve advising on the relationship between different areas of law, and reaching for novel or less used legal doctrines and concepts.
Many of the clients who I help regularly are large businesses or public bodies with limited or no internal legal function, who rely upon me effectively as a virtual General Counsel, or legal function service.
I enjoy jumping into new matters, becoming integrated with the client’s business, and working as part of a team focussed upon delivery. I run teams of people who are friendly, capable, and understand how to work with people across businesses to deliver their objectives, for that reason we are often asked to deliver projects which require a large amount of pan office interaction, and assist with sensitive matters.
I am fortunate to work with interesting and progressive clients in a range of sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, public service, and food and beverage.
I still appear in Court, before Arbitrators, and the Tribunals. I particularly enjoy rent reviews, public law challenges, and cases which blend public law and private rights.
I also have a busy advisory practice, particularly advising rural arbitrators.
I was Chair of the Firm’s Litigators’ Committee for six years, during which time I redrafted our retainers, wrote a number of our policies, responded to consultations on behalf of the Firm, and delivered three enjoyable conferences for our 80 talented litigators.
I am ranked in Band 3 for Agriculture & Rural Affairs in Chambers UK and I am listed as a Next Generation Partner for Agriculture & Estates by the Legal 500.
