Entries Open for Property Awards

Organisers of the Michelmores/Western Morning News Annual Property Awards have announced that nominations can now be made for buildings and projects that have been completed during 2013.

The awards programme, now in its 12th year, is recognised as the leading competition of its kind and draws quality entries from throughout the South West in eight categories which celebrate the significant contribution the property sector makes to the West Country economy.

Last year Plymouth Life Centre, the Forum at The University of Exeter, Heartlands at Pool in Cornwall and Trevithick View, a social housing project in Camborne were amongst the winning entries.

Michelmores’ Head of Property, Emma Honey said: “Last year we introduced residential developments as qualifying categories for the first time and this was widely welcomed by industry leaders.  This year we have made one slight adjustment in raising the criteria for Commercial Project of the Year from £3million to £5million to better reflect the changing market and the type of entries we are receiving.

“It is also important to remind potential entrants that the geographical footprint for qualifying buildings and projects was extended two years ago to include Dorset in addition to Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.”

For the 2014 awards, categories include: Commercial Project of the Year with a Value Under £5million; Commercial Project of the Year with a Value Over £5million; Building of the Year; Heritage Project of the Year; Eco Project of the Year; The John Laurence Award for Professional Firm of the Year; Residential Project of the Year 40 Units and Under and Residential Project of the Year 41 Units and Over.

Property professionals throughout the region are now being called upon to enter their buildings, projects and firms for the 2014 awards with the application process opening on Thursday 5th December with a closing date of Friday 24th January 2014.  Judging is scheduled for March 2014.
