The Residential Property team at Michelmores took over the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) shop in Crediton on the 9th June 2015. Raising funds by selling cakes, steaming clothes and dressing the store windows the team raised £650 in one day for the charity.
The Exeter Leukaemia Fund supports families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders across the South West by providing compassionate, tailored support in the Yarty ward at the RD&E where around 400 patients are treated each week.
Karen Eagle, an Associate in the Residential Property team, said:
‘I would like to thank the staff of the Exeter Leukemia Fund shop in Crediton for allowing a bunch of lawyers to take over the shop for the day. We had a wonderful time meeting customers and we are full of admiration for the sterling work done by the mainly volunteer staff on a daily basis in this busy shop.
Under the guidance of manager Kerry we had an exhausting but very rewarding day and we know that the £650 we raised, and the additional income from the stock donated by Michelmores employees that’s now in the shop, is going to a very worthwhile cause.’
ELF’s fundraising focus this year is the Chevithorne Appeal, with an aim to raise £420,000 to build a new family suite at the Yarty Ward for patients in need of critical or end of life care. The new suite will give families a place to be together in privacy and dignity at the most trying of times, while still giving patients the tailored and expert care that they need. The whole £650 raised by Michelmores Residential Property team will go towards this cause.
