Michelmores has hosted a successful Pitch Event, in collaboration with Hazlewoods, that took place on Thursday 10 October at The Clarence Social in Cheltenham.
MAINstream (Michelmores Angel Investor Network) was established in 2019 to help accelerate the growth and diversity of angel investing. It is a UKBAA (UK Business Angels Association) registered network. Michelmores holds five pitch events a year where high-growth early-stage companies will be invited to present their businesses to members of the network.
The MAINstream event showcased various pitches from high-growth, early-stage companies and was followed by an inspiring Q&A panel session with Richard Yorke, Cyber Tech Entrepreneur, Investor and Advisor, Bay Burdett, Founder of Bay’s Kitchen, and Melanie Goward, who manages the new early-stage growth investment team at Maven Capital Partners. The panellists shared their experiences and offered advice to anyone considering becoming an angel investor.
The four businesses pitching to investors at the Cheltenham event were:
MAINstream now has more than 65 member investors, seeking opportunities to actively invest in – and provide ongoing support to – innovative start-ups and exciting disruptive ventures. Many of its members have themselves started, scaled, and exited successful businesses.
The network seeks to connect high-growth companies with a connection to the South West of England with investors that are local to them, with the aim of helping to drive growth in the region.
The Cheltenham event was hosted by Michelmores Partner Adam Kean and Hazlewoods Director Rich Grover.
Adam said:
“It was very exciting to hold a MAINstream pitch event in Gloucestershire, with an excellent panel of experts and some great networking opportunities. The event was a real display of Michelmores’ culture at its best, working together to put on a fantastic event and supporting our regional community of investors and founders. It was a fabulous and fun evening, showcasing lots of talent, and we look forward to supporting the Angel community and early-stage businesses going forward.”
Rich adds:
“We are proud to have co-hosted the first MAINstream event in Cheltenham – it was great to see members of the local business community join together for an insightful afternoon full of lots of interesting discussions. The four companies delivered engaging pitches, and we wish them the very best going forward. We look forward to planning the next one in the area.”
MAINstream regularly holds pitch events throughout the year where high-growth, early-stage companies are invited to present to the network. Upcoming events can be found here.
