Michelmores has advised Gemalto UK Ltd (Gemalto) in relation to its successful tender to Her Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) for the production of UK Passports. Gemalto has been awarded the contract, which has a value of circa £260 million over the lifespan of the new contract.
Gemalto is a world leader in digital security and is renowned for providing technologically advanced and highly secure personal identification documents and products (including biometric Passports, driving licences and identification cards) and related services.
As well as advising Gemalto in relation to the terms of the proposed contract, Michelmores provided strategic advice to Gemalto in relation to its position following HMPO’s decision to provisionally award the contract to Gemalto.
The Michelmores’ team was led by Projects Partner Ben Hogan, with support from Head of Projects and Procurement, Carol McCormack OBE, Dispute Resolution Partner Sara Chisholm-Batten and procurement specialist Michael Papadakis.
General Counsel to the Government Business Unit at Gemalto, Nicolas Benito-Wormann, commented that:
“Gemalto was delighted to be able to count once again with the very efficient and professional support of Michelmores, and, particularly, of its Partner, Ben Hogan. Not only do they stand out for their responsiveness in providing thorough, flexible and rigorous assessments, but more importantly, their strategic thinking and anticipation really made a difference.”
Partner Ben Hogan commented:
“We are delighted to have assisted Gemalto in connection with its successful participation in this prestigious and high profile procurement process.”.
