Four new Partners join Michelmores, boosting the Firm’s national growth

Michelmores is pleased to welcome another four new Partners to the Firm, promoting Michelmores’ investment in talent for growth and bolstering the Firm’s Private Wealth offering across the UK. The recruits come hot on the heels of the recent hire of Christian Massey, who brings with him a breadth of experience across landed estates and rural property.

Through the recruitment of leading lawyers across the UK, Michelmores aims to extend its network of influence and to offer its clients holistic and strategic guidance. Three of the new partners are women, adding strength to Michelmores’ commitment to gender inclusivity, which has seen the Firm’s proportion of female partners exceed 35% already, meeting ahead of time its target of achieving 30% female partners by 2022.

The new Partners include:

Lorraine Jeffrey specialises in resolving disputes arising from wills, estate administrations, and trusts.  Lorraine’s cases frequently have a cross-border or international element, and she has experience in cases involving estates and assets in Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, BVI, Nevis, and Hong Kong. Lorraine is a Legal 500 Next Generation Partner who is respected for her pragmatism and rapport with clients.

Marie-Louise King is an experienced and commercial litigator renowned for her client-centric approach in complex and sensitive disputes. The mainstay of Marie-Louise’s practice is breach of contract claims, company and shareholder disputes, disputes arising out of corporate transactions and contentious insolvency. She has specific expertise in claims involving misuse of confidential and private information and is an expert in obtaining emergency injunctions.

Kate Gardner is a highly experienced employment Partner. She is particularly well-known for her expertise in agricultural employment law, with extensive knowledge of farming businesses and landed estates. She also has wide experience of advising SMEs in all aspects of TUPE, restructuring, and redundancies, as well as specialising in senior executive termination and exit arrangements.

Philip Barth specialises in all aspects of immigration and citizenship law and has been involved with Central Government on determining how the UK will approach the issue of immigration in the post-Brexit era. He has over 30 years of experience in successfully acting for multinational corporations, international families, leading creatives, professionals, intellectuals, and sports people. His previous experience as a corporate lawyer gives him an added insight when advising investors, wealth managers, entrepreneurs, and overseas businesses setting up in the UK and expanding into mainland Europe.

Colette Stevens, HR Director at Michelmores said:

“I am delighted to welcome our new Partners, who bring with them a wealth of expertise that enhances our offering to clients across many different sectors and jurisdictions. Increasing female representation at partnership level continues to be of strategic importance to us, and whilst there is always more work to be done to promote gender parity, these new recruits are a genuine cause for celebration.”
