Exeter Wheelers Hill Climb Festival − 19 September 2015

There is still time to sign-up to The Exeter Wheelers Hill Climb Festival, a charity team cycling event taking place on Saturday 19 September − fundraising in aid of local charity the Exeter Deaf Academy.

Up to 100 cyclists are expected to take part in the event, which will see participants make a mad dash to the top of the city’s Stoke Hill – approximately 1.2 miles long with an average gradient of 7%, and recently conquered by cycling champion Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Included in the line-up is 2015 Tour of Britain competitor George Pym and Harry Luxton, the reigning Junior National Champion. Also taking part are current National Hill Climb champions Dan Evans and Maryka Sennema.

Prize money of up to £300 is on offer for the top three times overall, along with a selection of age category winners.  In addition to the main Hill Climb race, there will be a Charity Team Event and ‘Go Ride’ races for children – with free entry.

Places are still available for the team event, which starts at 3.00pm.

Louise Edwards, Marketing Director at Exeter law firm Michelmores, who are sponsoring the event commented:

“This is the inaugural Hill Climb Festival in Exeter, we have attracted some great names for the main race.  The team event is not only aimed at supporting the fantastic Exeter Deaf Academy, it’s also about getting children and adults out and being active. We want this to be a fun community event that everyone can be part of, either on their bikes or spectating.”
