Entries are now open for this year’s annual Michelmores Charity 5k Run, which will take place on Thursday 7 September 2017.
Michelmores is calling for individual runners and local businesses of all abilities to join together to run the 5k course in the heart of Exeter, whilst fundraising for a fantastic local charity.
For the second consecutive year, the Charity Run will be fundraising for Balloons, who support bereaved children and young people in Exeter and beyond. It is the only charity to offer support of this kind in the local area.
The Michelmores Charity Run, which attracts over 1,000 participants each year, will begin next to the historic Exeter Cathedral and wind its way through a five kilometre course around the City Centre, finishing back at the Cathedral Green.
Sara Bennett, CEO of Balloons commented:
‘We support children when they are at their most vulnerable – helping them to cope with their hurt without feeling overwhelmed. Michelmores has been working alongside us since January 2016, fundraising on our behalf so that we can continue to provide this crucial service.
Last year Michelmores’ Charity Run raised over £26,000, and this has made a huge difference to us. We have been able to train and support 25 new volunteer grief support workers, purchase new materials for our interventions and provide a full programme of activity days and special events like our Christmas party.
Our work has been strengthened as a result of Michelmores support, and working alongside them again in 2017 was a dream come true!’
