Hosted and sponsored by Michelmores and organised by the SCL Tech Transactions Group.
Join SCL’s Technology Transactions Group on 28 November 2024 for a half day event focusing on how the wave of new digital regulation is impacting technology contracts.
Why should you attend:
By now, most tech lawyers will have advised on the application of new and emerging digital regulations, including the EU AI Act, Data Act, NIS 2, Cyber Resilience Act, Product Liability Directive and DORA, or will at least have attended training sessions on how they will apply to their / their clients’ organisations.
Now is therefore the time to be thinking about the practical impact of how digital regulation is impacting your contracts with suppliers and customers. From cloud and SaaS deals through to outsourcing, licensing and development projects, many contracts involve the development or provision of products or services that are directly or indirectly subject to this new regulatory wave.
So how should customers and suppliers think about embedding compliance within their contracts, procurement strategies and discussions with counterparties? This is the theme of this half-day event.
Key learning outcomes and discussion areas:
- A contractual focus on key new digital regulations including the AI Act, Data Act, NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, Product Liability Directive and DORA
- Best practice for how customers and suppliers should conduct contracting processes to comply with these regulations and developing market practice
- Learn contractual positions, negotiating tactics and drafting tips when relying on a counterparty for your client’s compliance
The event will feature a mix of teach-ins and workshops based on practical examples to show the key contractual positions, negotiation tactics and drafting tips when procuring or providing products or services affected by digital regulation.
We will have a range of private practice and in-house lawyers covering the sessions to ensure a variety of perspectives are covered across the day.
Speakers will include:
- Vik Khurana, Partner, Bristows LLP
- Sue McLean, Partner, Baker McKenzie; SCL Trustee and Vice Chair
- Joel Harrison, Partner, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP
- Kathryn Morgans, Senior Director, Smith + Nephew
