Your current title / role
CEO – The Bishop Anthony Educational Trust
Brief career background
I moved to Oxfordshire in the mid 1990’s, carrying out advisory work for the Local Authority on behaviour and inclusion, which led to me becoming a primary headteacher. I returned to Herefordshire as a Local Authority School Improvement Advisor and am an accredited OFSTED inspector.
What does a typical working day look like?
There is no such thing as a typical day as CEO of the Trust. We cover a very large geographical area and so I can have a 15 minute trip to work or an hour and half journey. Our schools come in all shapes and sizes and the challenge this brings makes my job both exciting and rewarding. I try and visit the schools regularly, balanced with seeing the central team in Ludlow.
What did you have for dinner last night?
Fish pie, my favourite!
What was the last piece of music you listened to?
Elgar Cello Concerto
What was your favourite and most hated subject when you were at school?
My favourite was Biology and I hated PE!
What is the best thing about your job?
Working with a very talented group of professionals who amaze and encourage me every day.
If you could change one thing about the current education system what would it be?
To stop the constant change and allow those who really know how to make a positive difference to the lives of the children and young people to make the decisions.
