Michelmores support for manufacturers in the South West has been reinforced by law firm’s sponsorship of the Made in the Devon Insider Breakfast to be held in Exeter in June.
The event, which is being organised by South West Business Insider magazine and marks the launch of its Made in the South West 2014 initiative, will debate the challenges and opportunities facing manufacturers today and it has a line-up of impressive speakers from businesses across Devon which have shown growth in difficult markets and have displayed real expertise and leadership.
Speakers include: Peter Morrish, technology manager, Helitune; Nick Hurst, founder, Burts Chips; Simon Howes, director, Manufacturing Advisory Service; Phil Scotcher, general manager, TDK-Lambda UK and Carleen Kelemen, Chair, Institute of Directors, Devon and Cornwall.
Tim Richards, partner in Michelmores’ manufacturing sector, said: “This is a milestone event which recognises that Devon has a well-established and high quality range of manufacturers including high-tech, high-precision businesses, alongside niche artisan brands and creative professionals.
“We will be discussing the challenges manufacturers’ face, the Devon identity and what it’s like to do business here.”
Miri Thomas, Editor of South West Business Insider said: “This event marks the launch of Made in the South West 2014, Insider’s focus on manufacturing in the region. As part of that programme of features and events, we’re taking Insider’s popular breakfast format to Devon. The Made in Devon event will seek to identify the major hurdles facing those operating here – from infrastructure to recruitment, access and funding – and how they can be overcome. Our breakfast event will speak to manufacturers in the county from a variety of sectors to discuss the Devon identity and find out what it’s really like to do business in the area.”
In addition to Michelmores, other sponsors of the event include eef – the Manufacturers Organisation, Lloyds Bank and the Manufacturing Advisory Service.
The Made in Devon Insider Breakfast takes place at the Thistle Hotel, Exeter on Thursday 19 June with registration commencing at 7.30am. For full information click here.
