Today I went to a last minute meeting with one of the firm’s newest partners, Andrew Oldland QC.
Michelmores are the first firm of solicitors in the south west to appoint Queen’s Counsel to their partnership so it was exciting to get the opportunity to work along side him.
Our meeting took us to Dartmouth on the South Devon Coast, a beautiful harbour town.
One of Andrew’s areas of speciality is the regulatory aspects of maritime, fisheries and environmental law. This query related to maritime law and the surrounding licensing processes. I had the chance to get an idea of the legislation and regulations on the journey to meet the client.
With the client we discussed the problem in detail. We even had the chance to view the subject matter which involved walking down several pontoons (not really suited to my high heels!).
Back at the office we did some further research before discussing our findings with the client. All together a good trainee day!
