Shared values and CSR
At Michelmores, we understand that what we do and how we do it has a wider impact beyond simply delivering legal services and solutions to our clients.
We are mindful that, like all businesses, we have a part to play in contributing to the wider social and economic environment that we operate in.
Our commitment to CSR is therefore delivered through multiple strands and we positively encourage all staff at the firm to get involved and provide their support as best they can.
Ultimately, we want to create a lasting and ongoing legacy of giving back and having a positive impact on the social and other environments in which we operate.
Key aspects of CSR at Michelmores
We aim to deliver on our commitment to CSR through the following:
- Supporting our Nominated Charity through a two year partnership
- Pro Bono
The Firm nominates a charity to support every two to three years. The current period runs from 1 January 2020 to 30 April 2023.
The nominated charity that we currently support is The Charlie Waller Trust.
We will start our next Charity Partnership application process in the Spring of 2023 (with support for our next charity starting from 1 May 2023). If you would like to be notified when the application process opens, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a firm, we are proud to employ staff who do not hesitate to roll their sleeves up to participate in volunteering opportunities to help our nominated and other charities.
To encourage the use of volunteering days, we offer our staff one paid day a year which they can put towards volunteering opportunities.
Whilst we do work with our nominated charity to offer volunteering opportunities to our staff, we actively encourage our staff to look to use their volunteering days for any charitable purpose that is of interest to them.
In supporting our belief that people of all backgrounds should have access to legal services, we do offer certain Pro Bono legal advisory services.

ThinkGreen is a Firm-wide committee that focuses on reducing Michelmores' carbon footprint by targeting procurement practises, energy-usage, and refuse reduction and recycling.
In addition to material improvements to buildings and plant, the aim is to inform and encourage staff to alter their behaviour and reduce their environmental impact in the workplace and, therefore, in their personal lives. We are also, with advice from the Devon Wildlife Trust, introducing plants and habitats to encourage wildlife to thrive on our Exeter office grounds.
Michelmores is leading the way for legal practises in the South West to the point that we have partnered with the Devon & Somerset Law Society (DASLS) and Oxygen House to assist other legal firms in the region to make improvements to their environmental footprint.
We also host and chair a committee of 35 like-minded businesses in Exeter, plus a representative of Exeter City Council, to jointly investigate and implement sustainable travel initiatives to reduce the effect of staff commuting.
